Game Notes: It’s the first of two meetings between the teams in less than a week. Detroit lost its last game Tuesday to the New Orleans Pelicans and may have lost its most promising player a bit. Star rookie Cade Cunningham went to the locker room in the second half of the game with a hip injury and did not play again, although he returned to the bench. He was in question as of Wednesday evening.
Minnesota is playing for a playoff spot, which would be its second since 2005, also known as when future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett left the team, and the first since 2018. Wolves have won two games straight and are led by an explosive offense (112 ppg) featuring a talented young line of Karl-Anthony Towns (24.4 ppg), D’Angelo Russell (18.8 ppg) and Anthony Edwards (22.3 points per game).
The Pistons play Friday at home against the Boston Celtics. The Timberwolves will return home and await a Sunday rematch against the Pistons.
