High school football enters week nine tonight, and it’s the last week of the Heritage Conference regular season, with the WestPAC crossover games and the Appalachian Bowl next week.
Tonight’s schedule is highlighted by the Homer Center non-conference game on WCCS against Midfield Power in Muncy State, Lycoming County. Like Homer Center, the Indians lost their first game of the season and have won seven in a row since.
Wildcats coach Greg Page said Homer Center would gain a lot in the District 6 standings if he could win.
Page says fans will see a show tonight.
Page knows that Muncy is a very good football team.
Muncy’s coach Sean Tetreault says they jumped at the chance to come to the Homer Center tonight.
On WQMU tonight, the Marion Center Stingers travel to 4-4 West Shamokin with the 4-4 Stingers in an AA playoff spot, needing a win and loss for Mount Union to Claysburg-Kimmel to climb to 8th place. with a week to go.
Marion Center coach Adam Rising knows the key tonight will be stopping West Shamokin’s offense, led by Beau Schwartz.
West Shamokin enters the game reeling from a big loss to Conemaugh Valley and struggles to stop his opponents’ racing game. Coach Jon McCullough has said they aren’t looking at the district playoffs just yet, just a consistent defense.
On Cat Country, 106.3 FM tonight, River Valley just suffered back-to-back losses as the Panthers go to 1-7 Northern Cambria.
River Valley coach Jess Houser is looking to improve his offensive line play.
Colts coach Sam Shutty’s team struggled to find consistency saying his guys are still fighting for the win.
The other Heritage Conference games tonight are 4-4 Purchase Line at 8-0 Cambria Heights and 2-6 Penns Manor visiting 0-8 United.
On WDAD tonight, Indiana has a big game as the 4-4 Little Indians travel to March 1-7, with Indiana still chasing a place in the WPIAL playoffs.
