Telstra Broadcast Services (TBS) has announced the opening of its new Broadcast Operations Center (BOC) in the UK.
Located in Telstra’s London Hosting Center in London Docklands, the BOC will house a main control room, offices and a lab / workshop area. Telstra said the BOC was designed specifically for live video productions and will help manage and monitor content to and from Telstra’s EMEA customers on global fiber, satellite, Internet and corporate partner networks.
The BOC is also designed to provide localized monitoring, alerting, routing and switching of Telstra services to the broadcasting industry. Telstra said the BOC would take advantage of MediaCloud, after it acquired the company in June.
Andreas Eriksson, Head of Telstra Broadcast Services, said: âTelstra Broadcast Services already operates more than 400 satellite, media and data services, and oversees three million hours of permanent channels and 20,000 ad hoc event bookings each year. By increasing our investment in London with this new facility, we are demonstrating our commitment to the European market and delivering exactly the kind of high quality, low latency services both within and outside of Europe that industry, and sectors sports and live events, in particular, are demanding.
