Synamedia encodes 8K video with “zero compromise”


Synamedia announced that it has performed 8K real-time encoding and streaming in its VIVID compression platform.

The independent video software vendor uses AMD EPYC 7763 processors, known as the world’s highest performing x86 server processor. He says the test required “zero compromise” without the need for splitting the screen and other tech tricks that compromise video quality.

Typically, 8K signal can be split into 4K quadrants or dedicated GPU memory or other built-in hardware acceleration.
