Shelby County Council will meet on Thursday

Shelbyville, IL-(Radio Effingham)- Shelby County Council is due to meet Thursday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m.

The following items are on the agenda:

    • Public body’s comment
    • Bill Schmitz, Zoning Administrator – Discussion and vote on the resolution to rezone parcel 2013-33-01-101-004 located at 921 N 2075 E Road from AG to GB for owners Nicholas and Rebecca Sloan to operate a business of guns online
    • Bryon Coffman, Liquor Commissioner – Discussion and vote on issuing a Class 1 Liquor License (Package) at Gregory’s Resort in Okaw Township for the $40.00 application fee and license fee prorated $50.00
    • President Coffman – Discussion of forensic audit findings with auditor John Vanderburg
    • Bryon Coffman, Liquor Commissioner – Discussion and vote to amend the Liquor Ordinance to set fees for all license classifications at $600 per year
    • Chairman Coffman – Discussion and vote on the use of an employment website for the position of county engineer and the payment of fees associated with this website
    • County Highways Report – Discussion and vote on: Resolution to appoint Stacy Prosser as Acting County Highways Engineer, Prairie Township Highways Commissioner 50/50 Petition to Replace a Culvert (1/2 mile east of 2900E on 300 N Rd) estimated expense $7,900, Department Updates
    • Erica Firnhaber, County Treasurer – Discussion and vote on whether to approve the Public Defender’s salary increase (new salary of $131,569.35) due to the recent increase in the State’s Attorney’s salary (increase to $146,188.17) (55 ILCS 5/3-4007)
    • Cassi Cox, Board Member – Discussion regarding compensation and bonus hour compensation procedures for the Sheriff’s Department
    • Chairman Coffman – Motion to remove from AFSCME MOU table (filed by Boehm, seconded by Edwards 6/9/22)
    • Cassi Cox, Board Member – Discussion and vote on awarding all AFSCME members a $2,000 payment as a risk exposure bonus, regardless of department

    • President Coffman – Discussion and vote on the 2022 budget amendment for the acceptance and disbursement of ARPA to AFSCME employees in the amount of $49,972.86

    • Sheriff Brian McReynolds – Discussion and vote on the motion to amend the fiscal year 2022 budget for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to pay necessary expenses, totaling $170,476
