Radio Royal celebrates 70 years of broadcasting from the BRI

A SPECIAL celebration is to be held for a radio station which has been broadcasting from Bradford Royal Infirmary for 70 years.

Radio Royal will celebrate its platinum jubilee on October 12.

All are invited to join in the celebration. Tickets cost £10 with all proceeds going to Radio Royal, a registered charity.

The station relies on a group of dedicated presenters, who deliver a range of different shows including guest interviews and the technology ensures 24/7 operation,

Chairman George Sumner said: “I am so proud of Radio Royal and its achievements over the years, from live to outside broadcasts.

“Our presenters are fantastic, bringing their own music and other interests into the studio, and creating a welcoming and joyful listening experience.

“On certain occasions, we can all be discovered at events, meet people and be ambassadors for both Radio Royal and the hospital.

“We love what we do and are always on the lookout for new volunteers who might want to try presenting – and we’ll support you in learning new skills.”

The party will take place from 7.30pm at the Low Moor Club on Huddersfield Road.

Tickets available at the door.
