Rahul will be received by party candidates in Amritsar before heading to Jalandhar to address the rally, which will be livestreamed on all social media platforms, a party leader said. The state unit and its social media cell are making arrangements with a two-way link in 22 districts so that workers and party leaders can see its address.

Congressional candidates are also preparing for the digital rally to be broadcast live in their constituencies.

The party has announced its candidates for 86 of the 117 seats in the state assembly so far. The names of candidates for the remaining 31 seats, which have been delayed due to lack of consensus among heads of state on half of them, are expected to be announced within a day or two.

Rahul was previously expected to launch the party’s campaign with a public meeting in Moga on January 3 and some party leaders including ministers also visited the district to select the venue for the rally. However, the public meeting was later canceled.
