Lions radio show stunned as Justin Tucker made his 66-yard FG

The Detroit Lions have found some truly amazing ways to lose over the years, and Sunday’s Week 3 game with the Baltimore Ravens was no exception.

They managed to lose in a way that no other team had already lost… against a basket of 66 yards.

With three seconds to go and Detroit ahead of a point, the Ravens had no choice but to send star kicker Justin Tucker for a shot attempt with a record 66 yards. And every Lions fan knew exactly how it was going to end.

Tucker’s kick sent the Ford Field crowd on a cruel and emotional roller coaster as the ball bounced off the crossbar, hung in midair, and slipped through. It was a ridiculous kick – a literal historical kick. You can hear this overwhelming disbelief in announcer Dan Miller’s call on the Lions radio show.

Miller, handling the moment immensely better than the Vikings crew last week, said:

“He’s off the crossbar… AND…. through! Oh my god are you kidding me? 66-year-old Justin Tucker hit the crossbar and she bounced back. And the Ravens are celebrating on the field. The longest placement in NFL history just beat the Detroit Lions.

Yeah, that one is going to hurt.
