ORCHARD PARK – The Buffalo Bills win their second straight AFC East Division title in 2021 didn’t get off to a flying start thanks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It was a game the Bills didn’t have to lose, but some critical errors in the second half – first and foremost a blocked punt for a touchdown that highlighted a 17-point rally in the fourth quarter. for the Steelers – got them in.
“Yeah, we realize that,” coach Sean McDermott said laconically when asked about the 23-16 loss. “Last year was last year.”
Very true, certainly in that sense: Instead of a future Hall of Famer at quarterback, albeit on his very last legs, the Steelers will introduce 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett for his first start in the NFL.

“He looks like a good young quarterback,” McDermott said. “Had a good pre-season, played well when he came into the game the other day and was productive. So it looks like he knows what he’s doing and how to function in this offense.
