Enhanced capabilities with a new production center and top on-screen talent to deliver an unprecedented viewing experience for SPL fans

SINGAPORE, JUNE 17, 2022 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) today announced exciting plans to take the AIA Singapore Premier League (SPL) match viewing experience to greater heights.

Technically, this will be achieved through new in-house production and broadcast capabilities, which have been made possible by the next-generation FIFA-certified software-based football production systems. Supplied to FAS under a five-year contract with Ideal Systems, the region’s largest broadcast and media systems integrator, the systems will be used in a new football production center housed at Jalan Besar Stadium. Jurong East Stadium, Our Tampines Hub, Hougang Stadium and Toa Payoh Stadium have all been upgraded with remote cameras that relay feeds to this hub – known as Production Control Room 2, which is the second such facility at the stadium.

New field-side camera systems that allow up to 40x zoom have been installed, while network connectivity has been improved to provide increased reliability and a smoother viewing experience. A new partnership with AE Live, one of the world’s leading television graphics providers whose clients include FIFA, World Rugby, the Women’s Tennis Association and Sky Sports, will see redesigned graphics, such as compositing, to add dynamism in matches. . More technical information can be found in the appendix below.

The above technology was put in place before the start of the current season and has been in use since the 2022 AIA Community Shield game. Subsequently, the processes were refined in the first series of games, which took place ended on April 20, to set the stage for an enhanced viewing experience for the rest of the campaign.

Improved offers on and off screen

A selection of top on-screen talent completed the enhanced production, led by established presenter John Dykes – a famous face in the world of sports broadcasting with over 20 years experience. He’s backed by a stellar cast that includes Shehzad Haque and Mark Richmond, considered two of the region’s top sports commentators, who will guide viewers through every game while former player Rhysh Roshan Rai and football coach Shasi Kumar will be by his side. as experts to provide expert analysis and insight. Each Matchweek will be headlined by a Match of the Week, where the build-up begins 30 minutes before kick-off with a pre-match show that provides detailed information, team updates, exclusive opinions and more that will not be found anywhere else.

Content offerings around matchdays have been bolstered with two new shows: SPL Social and SPL Express. The SPL Social, run by Singaporean sports personality Ashikin Hashim – better known as Futbolita – is a 30-minute Facebook show that sees her engage with different guest stars each week on a variety of topics that cover their thoughts on the SPL to their personalities off the pitch. Fans are also encouraged to enter contests offering tempting prizes. On the SPL Express, former professional player and football analyst Rhysh Roshan Rai offers a short and to-the-point analysis of an abbreviated show that looks back at the previous week of SPL action and previews the round ahead to bring the league fans.

About the new FAS Production Hub

A plethora of new cutting-edge broadcast technologies will be deployed in Asia for the first time, the core of which is based on SimplyLive’s ViBox. ViBox is an NDI-compliant software-based production tool for multi-camera football production that brings together all the major components of live football production, including a video switcher, audio mixer, dynamic graphics, instant replay , creating highlights and is operated using an intuitive smart interface. touch screen user interface. The new production center will also feature DELTA-offside, a FIFA-certified offside line review system from Deltacast that uses breakthrough image processing technology to overlay a pitch-bound virtual offside line without no sensors required on production cameras.

For games at remote stadiums, all camera feeds are NDI and are aggregated in the SimplyLive Venue gateway which uses SRT to send feeds back to the production hub via a Dejero gateway which provides network aggregation for reliable connectivity over the internet double redundancy. Connections. Powered by Dejero Smart Blending technology, Dejero GateWay devices bring together diverse connectivity paths from multiple vendors to deliver improved reliability, expanded coverage, and greater bandwidth. The Dejero GateWay also provides bonded cellular backup connectivity in the event that both Internet connections fail at one stage. Kiloview SRT encoders and -Dejero gateways are used for final distribution streams from the Jalan Besar production hub to local SingTel and StarHub broadcasters.

Cameras

Field-side cameras supplied by Ideal Systems include the highly respected JVC GY-HC500, which features a 40X zoom. Ideal also supplied FAS with Singapore’s first BirdDog A200 NDI waterproof PTZ sports cameras with 30x zoom and super-fast presets. Ideal also supplied the high-end BirdDog P4K camera for the new chromakey television studio, which is entirely NDI-based using NewTek’s TriCaster.
