The minister for children says that no one responsible for the failure to set up sexual violence services still works for Oranga Tamariki.

The failure was revealed by a $40 million underspending on the agency’s books.

Kelvin Davis says it’s a problem he inherited when he became minister.

“There was a report about the mismanagement of this particular project. Oranga Tamariki stepped in and fixed it. When a mistake is made, just correct it and fix it. Then we have to make sure that the money that is there for sexual violence programs or whatever else is spent for the purpose for which it was obtained,” he says.

Mr. Davis says there is still $11 million unspent that has been earmarked for the next fiscal year.
