Cooper Hjerpe struck out nine of six scoreless innings and Kyle Dernedde hit his first career home run as 12th-ranked Oregon State beat Xavier, 9-0, Friday afternoon at Surprise Stadium. dernedde, Jacob Melton and Justin Boyd all led in two runs for the Beavers, who improved to 6-0 for the 19th time in school history and the first since 2019. Hjerpe held Xavier to three hits and a walk in four innings , earning his second victory in his second start of the season. Hjerpe and relievers Reid Seby, dj carpenter and Mitchell Verbourg did not allow Xavier to put a runner in scoring position.
