The Waka Ama NZ chief says the 2022 IVF Va’a Elite and Club Sprint World Championships in England have brought much-needed attention to the sport.

The tournament ended at Dorney Lake near Windsor yesterday with Aotearoa leading the medal tally.

Lara Collins says attention will create excitement for Hawai’i 2024.

“Just raising the profile of the sport and getting more countries involved is really important. There’s a lot of media here, especially after the Commonwealth Games are over, so a lot of media attention, which is great. for the sport and great for our paddlers back home,” she says.
