Alabama in third after 36 holes of action on day one of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup


ROLAND, Arche. – The Alabama Men’s Golf Team is third overall after posting a team score of 6 over par 582 (292-290) after 36 holes of action at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. The three-day event, to be held at the Alotian Golf Club at par 72, 7,500 yards, will feature another round of stroke play on Tuesday that sets the table for Wednesday’s final round of play.

The Crimson Tide opened the game with a total of 36 holes of 6 over par 582 (292-290) and are two strokes behind Arizona (580) for second place and a place in Wednesday’s championship game. . Notre Dame (569) leads the field of six teams by 11 strokes. The last round of stroke play will take place on Tuesday morning.

Recap of the first day

  • Three Crimson Tide golfers finished the day in the top 10, led by Clay cannon who is fifth in the general classification after the first day
  • Claycomb opened the game with a 1-over 73 in the morning and followed with a 1-under 71 Monday afternoon to finish with a 144
  • Thomas meditates is tied for seventh place at 1 on par 145 (72-73)
  • Dillon West, who shot the team’s lowest round of the day scoring under 70-2 in the afternoon, is tied for ninth at 3 above par 147 (77- 70)
  • JP Cave (76-76) and Tyler lipscomb (71-81) have been tied for 23rd to 152 to complete UA golfers

  • Golf Channel will broadcast live each day of the official tournament: Tuesday: 2 p.m.-5 p.m. CT and Wednesday: 2 p.m.-5 p.m. CT

  • The tournament will feature both men’s and women’s teams contending for the NCAA Division I Nationals
  • The format will be 54 holes in stroke play, setting the stage for a final day of match play based on the team’s stroke play result and will also recognize a 54 hole stroke play medalist.
